How Grimm’s Bitsie Tulloch & Company Kept Her Surprise Return a Secret
Knowing this, producers contacted Tulloch. A couple months later, the Norberto Barba-directed season finale aired, which featured the tear-jerking at least for me moment where Juliette dies. In a conference call with the press, Tulloch explained that one important aspect of keeping her return a secret, was to skip the San Diego Comic-Con, which she said she was really bummed about. I love seeing all the fans. But also like, it just would have been too obvious I think that I might be coming back to the show if I had gone to Comic-Con. When production on Grimm Season 5 started, the crew had a serious meeting about being tight-lipped about the big secret. It was ultimately decided that in order to convince the fans that she was off the show, her surprise comeback had been held off until Episode 6. In addition to that, her cast chair with her name on it was taken away; her name on her trailer was blacked out. The toughest challenge for the actress, who is the most active on social media out of the whole cast, was not being able to interact with the fans on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for nearly seven months. When I did post a photo, I would say I was visiting someone on set.

After six seasons and episodes, Grimm came to a close Friday night. As a fan throughout the show’s run, I was sad to see it go, especially since so many other genre shows are wrapping up this season The Vampire Diaries, Bates Motel, Teen Wolf. But Grimm is going out at the top of its game. The last two seasons have been stellar, with a good mix of standalone stories and mythology episodes. For the uninitiated, Grimm follows Nick Burkhardt, a Portland homicide detective. He discovers he is a Grimm, one of a long line of hunters who fights supernatural creatures, known as Wesen, that are eerily reminiscent of fairy tale creatures.
So let’s talk about that series finale. Finales are a hard thing to pull off, and I thought Grimm did a nice job. It was a bold move to kill off Hank and Wu – one that I applauded, though I love those characters – but after Renard was killed, I figured this was all a big fake-out. A dream sequence, an alternate reality, or something that would be fixed with magic.

Pretty Good 7. By adamdecker , Oct 29, I liked this show for the most part. I’ll admit that a lot of it could be pretty, well, grimm. But it worked well mixing in all of these supernatural characters with regular people. I’ll admit that it seemed dumb that it would always have to be some sort of weson that the characters are investigating in terms of a crime like a murder or arson. It was a questionable choice to make this like a procedural with a supernatural twist to it in the end.
Some of what happened in there could be better. Renold was far too mysterious a character and we never got much motivation out of him. We had reason to suspect him of being evil and he often was, but normally wasn’t. Adaline was a questionable character throughout most of the series. Mostly I got annoyed by how she was largely featured in plots removed from the main story, making you question why she was there.
